 Windows Defender need defending...
Here is a strange one... Installing Microsoft PowerShell prevents Windows Defender from getting updates and produces the cryptic message "No signature was present in the subject".

If it wasn't for Google I would never have thought to uninstall PowerShell.

So we should uninstall Defender?

I know it's been acting flaky for me. I add the Widget engine to the startup so my widgets will load on boot. Defender asks me to approve this action which I do. Then the next boot it's not there anymore.

And updating was iffy on one machine will on the other it works fine.

I would un-install defender and re-install the latest beta. That seemed to fix my problems. Now I just need to decide if I want to buy OneCare for my home machine or stick with SAV from work.
